CYS 3/4 (U10) Curriculum
CYS Development Targets
Over the course of the 3/4 (U10) seasons, we want our 3rd and 4th grade players to develop the ability to:
Techniques
• Pass with some accuracy using the different surfaces of the foot (in particular, the inside-of-the-foot pass)
• Receive balls on the ground with different surfaces of the foot
• Dribble with head up using different surfaces of foot and changes in speed
Tactics
• Demonstrate awareness and technique for 1v1 defending, as well as begin to be aware of 2nd defender roles
• Demonstrate awareness of 1st attacker role as well as begin to be aware of 2nd attacker roles
• Begin to understand “diamond” and “triangle” shapes
Psychology
• Manage emotions during both successful and failed moments of play
• Stay mentally engaged for extended periods of time
• Increase awareness of teammate involvement
