Frequently Asked Questions About CCFC
Can my child play CCFC and not City League?
No, one of the goals of the program is to ensure that the city's best players continue to participate in the City Leagues and not just “disappear” into club soccer. We believe this promotes the best experience for all the kids in CYS.
What league do the teams play in?
All CCFC teams play in the NECSL Club Soccer league. Teams within the league are ranked into tiers. The quality of the team obviously determines in which tier they play. It is possible for teams to switch tiers in the event that the team is either too strong or too weak for its current tier.
On what day are CCFC games typically played?
Almost all club soccer games take place on Sunday with only very occasional Saturday matches (usually just rescheduled games). It is rare to play more than one game a week.
How many practices will there be in a week?
CCFC teams typically have one practice in addition to the once weekly practices with their City League teams. As such, all CCFC players will have two practices a week.
Who coaches the teams?
In keeping with CYS's core mission, most coaches are parents or long-time CYS coaches. All coaches receive training and support from our coaching director as well as our professional coaches.
Do CCFC teams play two seasons?
Yes, teams play in both the fall and spring.
What about winter training?
It is up to a team's coach to decide if he or she wishes to run practices over the winter, either indoor or outdoor. To date, a majority of teams do run some winter practices in addition to the CYS Winter clinics.
Do the teams play in tournaments?
It is up to the teams to determine if they want to participate in tournaments. CYS is currently discussing the possibility of financing tournament play for CCFC teams.
Can I request my child to be placed on a specific team or with friends?
No. Because CCFC is tryout based, we cannot guarantee spots or friend requests.
