About Champions League (3rd &4th grade)

Champion League teams play a weekly game on Saturday in Cambridge, mostly at Danehy Park and usually in the morning or early afternoon. Teams hold weekly practices led by volunteer coaches, typically on a weekday afternoon around 5:00 PM, with a specific time and location for each team. We ask for information from all players about preferred practices times and locations before the season begins, and do our best to place kids on teams whose practices fit within their families’ schedules.

We culminate the spring season with a one-day City Championship (aka “World Cup”) at Danehy Park that is not to be missed. It is the highlight of the year for so many kids in Cambridge.

CYS programming is focused on player development through play, with methods supported by Mass Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer. It is a very fun and competitive experience to play in Cambridge Youth Soccer, and it can be a great foundation for a life of competitive high level or not-competitive recreational love for the game.

Player Equipment

CYS provides a colorful, high-quality team jersey to each player. Players are encouraged, but not required, to wear cleats. Shin guards, however, are mandatory, along with socks or pants to cover. Jewelry must be removed before matches. We urge players to bring a water bottle to practices and matches. CYS makes used equipment available to players at no cost at the Equipment Exchange Wagon.
