In-Town or BAYS?
CYS Players born on or after 8/1/1995 and before 9/1/2001 may choose to play on a fall/spring U10, U12, or U14 CYS travel team in the Boston Area Youth Soccer League (BAYS). Playing in our travel program requires a fall and spring commitment to attend two weekly practices and all games, home and away.
If you and your player cannot make this commitment, please consider our In-Town program. It is not fair to teammates and coaches to sign up for a travel team unless you can fully participate in practices and games for both seasons. We have more flexibility when forming our In-Town teams, and we try very hard to place players with friends, neighbors, classmates, as requested. That is not something we can do on our BAYS teams.
The BAYS Player Placement evaluations are not tryouts — all players will be placed on a team according to ability. For more information about playing on a CYS BAYS team, please go to BAYS Travel Teams and read BAYS Placement Field Evaluations.

Diaries of a Youth Soccer Coach Growing young with Team Light Blue By: Colin Twomey
On Saturday mornings during the fall, while most of Harvard was still too hung over to even sit upright in bed, my buddy Chris Cullen '07 and I would embark on our weekly trek to watch sports at its very best. Somewhere buried beneath the sporting embarrassments of player-fan brawls, lockouts and steroids, we had found the blank slate of athletic competition - matchless in its purity, simplicity and fairness. We had discovered a league refreshingly void of players charged with felonies, DUIs and possession of marijuana. Grand jury testimony? Nonexistent. Recruiting scandals? Entirely unheard of. Steroid testing? Completely unnecessary. In an age of heightened tension between players and fans, we had stumbled upon a field where the fans not only supported the players, they truly loved them. As for the players, they loved the fans too, and from time to time they even openly displayed their affection and respect for those who cheered for them on the sidelines. The fact is they kind of had to...if they wanted a ride home.
